Black History Month Football Tournament

On Wednesday, October 30th, Sheffield Wednesday FC Community Programme hosted a Black History Month celebration tournament at Parkwood Academy to inspire the next generation of young people.

More than 50 players from five other Club Community Organisations attended, participating in a football tournament, football games, and an interactive workshop about the first Black footballer, Arthur Wharton.

A variety of medals and trophies were up for grabs, as well as two SWFC tickets for the star player of the day.

Claudio Almeida, Sports and Inclusion Coach at SWFCCP, said: "We've had a brilliant time at today's tournament. It's been great to see so many young people come together, not only to enjoy football but also to learn about the first Black footballer, Arthur Wharton, and design their own Black History Celebration posters!"
