Alternative Provision Wins at Move More Awards
The Owls' Community Programme was in the spotlight once again last Friday, as their Alternative Provision Team was awarded Educational Setting of the Year at the first-ever Move More Awards.
The Move More Awards celebrate individuals and communities making a positive impact through sport and physical activity across Sheffield, recognising those dedicated to creating a healthier and more connected city.
SWFCCP’s Alternative Provision programme provides education outside of mainstream schools for young people who require tailored support due to special educational needs, health issues, or challenging behaviour. Through personalised programmes, the initiative helps students achieve their educational goals and improve their life chances.
Paul Jackson, Alternative Provision Coordinator at SWFCCP, said:
"I’m absolutely thrilled to receive this award. It’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of my team. The key to our success has been expanding our provision to support more young people. We’ve opened our doors to a diverse range of individuals with different needs, helping schools, parents, the local authority, and, most importantly, the young people who struggle with mainstream education. Physical activity plays a crucial role in our approach, as sport makes it much easier for children to engage with learning."
It wasn’t just the Alternative Provision team celebrating on the night—Niall Guite, a passionate Wednesdayite and Disability Ambassador for SWFCCP, was also recognised, winning the Changemaker Award, which was proudly sponsored by SWFCCP, further highlighting their commitment to creating positive change.
