Sports Science
Sports Science
The sports science pathway is a three-year pathway which is broken down into 3 separate but joining years. At the end of each year, the students will gain a qualification which is:
Year one: HNC (Level 4) in Sport and Exercise Science
Year two: HND Level 5) in Sport and Exercise Science
Year three: BSc (Hons) Applied Sports Science
The modules are delivered in blocks, with one module being delivered after the previous one. During each module, the students will do an assessment which is half of the module. At the end of each module, the students will attend Loughborough College to complete their assessment. This will then make up the final 50% of that module’s assessment.
This format gives students who are unsure about committing to a three-year university course the flexibility while they achieve an improved qualification each year.
The modules that the students will cover on this pathway are:
-
Professional Skills
Training, Fitness and Testing
Nutrition
Fundamentals of Sport and Exercise Psychology
Injury Prevention
Anatomy and Physiology
Physical Activity, Lifestyle and Health

On each year of the course, the students are given £500 to spend on CPD courses that they feel will help them with their career. This is a fantastic way for the students to develop their knowledge in a range of areas away from their studies to help them stand out above other students who have done similar courses.
Entry grade: PPP at extended level 3 – 48 UCAS points
