How walking football can boost your Mental Health: Peter’s Story

Since retiring, Peter had struggled with his mental health. He was feeling low, getting easily out of breath and hadn’t kicked a football in almost 30 years. That’s when he heard about our Walking Football sessions that run five times a week in North Sheffield.

The sessions not only provide an easy opportunity for all abilities to get physical exercise, but they also are a friendly social space for participants to interact with one another to help their mental health.

“The social aspect is just as good as the physical, I’ve never felt great and couldn’t recommend it more!” said Peter.

Sessions are just £2 per person and run on the following days:

Monday
2:30-3:30pm at Hillsborough Arena

Tuesday
1:30-2:30pm at Concord Sports Centre
7-8pm at Jubilee Sports Club

Thursday
Women’s Only – 5-6pm at Wisewood Sports Centre – No charge

Friday
12-1pm at Hillsborough Arena
