Wednesday fans have the opportunity to support the club’s charity work at this year’s Asda Foundation Sheffield 10K.

They are being urged to pull on their trainers and Run with the Owls in aid of the Sheffield Wednesday FC Community Programme, the club’s charitable arm. Any money raised will go towards our disability services.

To secure a place all participants will be asked to pay £15 and then undertake to raise further sponsorship. Anyone who manages to clock up £150 or more will receive a signed Wednesday shirt by their favourite player.  The Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme have also donated two places in their executive box (home league game) for the runner raising the most money overall.

Thousands of runners of all abilities will hit the streets for the 10K on Sunday 24th September and former Wednesday forward John Pearson, the programme’s charity events coordinator, said: “The Sheffield 10K is an enormously popular event with a great atmosphere.

“Running with the Owls is an excellent opportunity to be part of this great run and get behind a fantastic cause at the same time. As it’s the derby game that day our runners will hopefully enjoy a double celebration – hitting their fundraising target in the morning followed by a Wednesday victory in the afternoon.”

Runners wishing to join the Owls team can contact John Pearson on 0114 221 2150 or for further information e-mail [email protected]

The Sheffield 10K is organised by Run For All and forms part of the lasting legacy of the late inspirational Jane Tomlinson CBE, who completed a series of gruelling challenges to raise nearly £2m for charity despite battling terminal cancer.

It is one of 10 events that make up the hugely-popular Asda Foundation 10K Series.
