Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme (SWFCCP) have strived to support people through the COVID-19 pandemic and have continued as our community provision begins to restart.
Aligning with Government guidance on social distancing, SWFCCP have gradually begin to restart areas of provision and have implemented schemes to support our most vulnerable through this difficult time.
Funding support from National Lottery Awards for All COVID-19 relief grant has allowed the community programme to reach out to vulnerable people who may have been affected by the pandemic by offering online exercise demonstrations, nutrition advice and face-to-face fitness sessions.
Additionally, SWFCCP have worked in partnership with S6 Food Bank over the duration of lock-down by providing a venue and staff for collection of food. Through this, we were privileged to meet many generous people who donated food, that went to a very good cause.
Building on this, we provided food parcels to all young people who participated in a football or physical activity session, aiming to promote healthy eating. 40 food parcels were distributed to young people and families in the Southey and Hillsborough areas.
