Following a year of hard work and dedication, SWFCCP’s Sport and Performing Arts students celebrated their achievements by coming together for one big final celebration. For many, this was the last time they would see their peers and teachers before moving on to pastures new, with many progressing to university or full time employment.

Of those commended on the night, Mariella De Lara and Jamie Hooley both received outstanding contribution awards for their superb academic achievements and contributions to work experience respectively. Furthermore, Katie Ned picked up the star performer award for dance together with Jasmine Thornhill who received an award for going above and beyond. There were also awards for students of the group, futsal, and stand out individual awards from both the girls and boy’s football programme.

It was a successful year for some of the collective teams on the programme also, with representatives of the successful teams receiving trophies on the night. Team 3 and Team 4 picked up awards for finishing top of their groups (2C and 3A), and Luis Fabio Alfonso Ferreira also collected a trophy on behalf of the team he was part of that won a regional 7 a side competition.

Education Graduation 2018 (2)

Regardless of whether they picked up an award or not, all the students should be proud of what they have achieved this year, a year in which the programme has grown significantly and formed a new partnership with Sheffield College. They have completed a wealth of work, in a professional and dedicated manner whilst always having a smile on their face.

Prior to the awards – and upon completion of the ceremony – students were given the opportunity to mingle with friends old and new, snap some photographs in the photo booth and enjoy a range of refreshments including ice cream, popcorn and candyfloss. The graduation was a perfect opportunity for some down time before the students receive their important BTEC and GCSE certificates/results in August.
