We here at Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme (SWFCCP) are proud to recognise the hard work and effort that has been put in by our students and staff regarding the success of our Community Football Coaching and Development Foundation Degree.
It has been a difficult time for all of us over the past academic year, and we offer our congratulations to those who have excelled, despite the ongoing pandemic. We are proud of all our students across both years of the course, and celebrate their amazing success under extremely challenging circumstances.
It has not been easy, but we admire the attitude and focus that the students showed through their time at Sheffield Wednesday, especially during the months where safety became of paramount concern, all the while maintaining their passion to complete the course and prove themselves as professional football coaches. The strong support that our students have given each other to help each other through their studies has been great to see over the course of the foundation degree, and their ability to adapt and change across multiple scenarios has been admirable to see as well.
All of our students in this, and previous academic years, have made their way onto high-level positions within different organisations, including Sheffield Wednesday, NCS, and other sporting institutions to name a few. They have taken the experiences and what they have learned over their time to showcase themselves as capable coaches and above all, exemplary human beings that can improve and develop others while maintaining a combination of professionalism and light-hearted camaraderie.
Foundation Degree Lead, Callum Douglas, said: “Firstly, I wanted to say a huge well done to all of our students on their degree results. The effort and commitment they’ve shown through COVID-19 have been nothing short of excellent and this has been reflected in many students gaining employment both in SWFCCP and elsewhere. They are a credit to this football club and we wish them all the best for the future.”
The students will be able to make their next steps and progress on to an appropriate BSC (Hons) degree, and we look forward to seeing some familiar faces in the future.
