Photographed is Nathan Pearson (middle), a Sheffield Wednesday Education student. Pearson completed his BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at the college in 2016, and is being awarded a Gold Olympic Medal.
Gaining this qualification has allowed him to begin studying a Foundation Degree in Community Football Coaching and Development based at Community Programme in partnership with the EFL and University of South Wales.
An hour or so before the Sunderland match last Wednesday, Pearson(19) received his Gold Medal for Football which he won at the Special Olympics Sheffield 2017 games which took place this August.
He was congratulated and awarded the medal by Sheffield Wednesday FC Manager, Carlos Carvalhal (left).
Joining them was Ricky Hunt (right), Curriculum Manager at the Education Centre, who has helped Nathan with his studies throughout his academic journey.
Nathan aspires to progress onto the BSc (Hons) Football Coaching, Development and Administration again based at SWFCCP. With his recent success we have no doubt this goal will be reached.
In addition to his studies, for last three years the gold medalist has been coaching in Special Schools in the Sheffield area.
The aim is for Nathan to develop his coaching and academic knowledge whilst studying his degree to work in his specialist area full times once he has graduated.
Congratulations Nathan! Sheffield Wednesday are excited to continue to help and witness his career prosper.
