Sheffield Wednesday will be donning Zest shirts in their clash with AFC Wimbledon, to promote the Community Programme’s new health and fitness initiative.

Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme has joined forces with Zest community Charity, to create the FANS Live Lighter programme.

The free 12-week course has been designed to help fans lose weight in a fun, pressure free environment at Hillsborough stadium.

Michael, a FANS Live Lighter participant, said: “The way I feel now I could probably go and run a marathon. 12 months ago, there was no way I would feel like this.

“Through dieting, training and exercise, it has given me the tools to keep my weight at a healthier and more sustainable level.

“I have personally gained from this programme and would definitely recommend it.”

FANS Live Lighter aims to help promote personal wellbeing, by helping the people of Sheffield live healthier and happier lives, by eating sensibly and keeping fit.

The programme includes advice sessions on food and nutrition and how the human body processes different foods, as well as including physical exercise sessions.

The new FANS initiative is one of 14 new community partners to join the Live Lighter weight management programme, run by Zest.

Robert Walton, Zest’s Marketing and Communications Manager, said: “Live Lighter Sheffield is delighted with the success of the Fans group and the work done by SWFCCP Health Officer, Rob Ward and his team.

“We are also delighted with the support offered by the club to raise awareness of obesity in the community and its role in highlighting productive, no pressure ways to help people lose weight in friendly environments.”
