NCS Match Day Takeover 2018

The Owls’ game with Aston Villa at Hillsborough on Saturday was the club’s official NCS matchday.

The National Citizen Service is a government project run by the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme, giving 15-17 year olds the chance to gain skills for work and life, as well as enjoying some exciting experiences!

The programme gives youngsters the opportunity to take part in outdoor activities such as rock climbing, canoeing and hiking, before going onto learn valuable life skills and boost their CV for future employment.

Students will then put these skills to the test by going into the community with their own social action project before they can celebrate with graduation!

Wednesday midfielders Joey Pelupessy and Adam Reach met with staff and graduates before the match against the Villans, with the Owls squad wearing NCS branded tee-shirts as they warmed up for the game.

Matthew Allen, NCS Manager at the SWFCCP, said: “NCS matchday was a huge success, the young people coming pitchside meeting two stars from the Wednesday team, and having their photo taken, really helped us to showcase NCS.

“A massive thank you to all the players for wearing the NCS tee-shirts and supporting our programme and making the NCS matchday a fantastic occasion.“
