PL Kicks

PL Kicks

PL Kicks, which started in 2006, has a long history of using the power of football and the value of sports participation to help hard-to-reach youngsters in some of the most high-need areas.

By engaging youngsters in constructive activities, including a wide variety of sports, coaching, music and educational and personal development sessions, communities up and down the country have been transformed with impressive sports participation rates and the authorities reporting up to 50% reductions in anti-social behaviour in the areas in which it is delivered.

“The Friday Fives programme at Concord Sports Centre see’s over 75 young people from the local community, one of the most deprived in the city, participate in football every week. The partnership has not only allowed activity in a structured manner during this time frame but supported the venue immensely in anti-social behaviour issues, which have now heavily decreased on site.” – David Bly, Sheffield International Venues

SWFCCP Stats: In the 2017/18 season alone over 700 young people have engaged in the programme. The scheme has also enabled youngsters to find routes into education, training and employment with volunteering being a key component.

PL Kicks also provides a Youth Club, which runs at the Sheffield Wednesday Hillsborough Stadium on a Tuesday evening 6pm – 8pm (see right).

It is a place for friends to come together and ‘chill out’ in a safe environment whilst working with staff around different topics such as healthy eating, anti-social behaviour, other criminal crimes and many other workshops.
