Throughout the week commencing April 23rd, the Nation celebrated Girls Football Week to get as many girls as possible playing the game.

Every year it is a great opportunity for young people to get active, meet new friends and have fun.

Sheffield Wednesday Community staff delivered several football sessions across Sheffield to Primary and Secondary schools, as part of the Girls Football Festival in partnership with The FA and Arches SSP.

The last day of the Festival, an amazing 160 kids from 9 different schools attended our event at St. Georges Park Thorncliffe.

Although the rain poured the girls did not lose their spirit, and the day was enjoyed by both students and staff!

Premier League Coordinator at SWFCCP, Isobel Dunn said,

‘’This week has been a huge success. Hundreds of girls across Sheffield have had the opportunity to experience football in a fun environment. Many have discovered their love for football and sports in general, and I can’t wait to continue to see the growth of Girls Football in the UK.’’
