Last weekend the Steel City saw sunny skies, shorts and some sweat…
On the 24th September, Yorkshire folk of all ages gathered as thousands ran, jogged and walked to raise money for their chosen charity at the Sheffield Run For All 10K.
Many runners had set time specific goals to challenge themselves and help keep them motivated to cross that finish line.
One runner who has the whole of Sheffield Wednesday talking is 68-year-old Roger Pace…
Roger is a long-time member, and graduate of our Fit Club at the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme, starting the sessions back in February 2016 with his wife Ann.
Due to the progress he has made at the Club, he was able to run the 10k in an astonishing 55 minutes! Not far behind some of the ‘first across’ runners finishing between 30 and 40 minutes.
Roger has previous experience running a 10K marathon. However, he never thought he would be participating in another one 30 years later!
Along with the practical fitness element of the course, Roger has found the information given on healthy eating has made a tremendous difference to his fitness level and stamina, “I’m very impressed with the health discussions about food. I can now look at the label on the back and know exactly what it all means”.
Fit Club coach Callum is extremely proud that Roger has progressed from his initial fitness into an athletic type development, and has become a real role model for his fellow members.
If you’re inspired by Rogers achievement and want to see a healthier fitter you, join the next Fit Club 10-week programme starting 12th October. Contact Callum at [email protected] for more information.
