BTEC Students One Step Closer to England College National Team

BTEC Sheffield College students studying at the Sheffield Wednesday Education Centre – second year Aidan Nagi (17) and first year Georgia Wilson (17) who is on the girls scholarship programme in partnership with Sheffield FC – have passed the first phase of trials for the England Colleges National Men’s and Women’s team.

Several BTEC students were selected to attend the first round of trials for the National Woman’s and Men’s Teams on the 23rd October.

The Second Phase of trials will take place Sunday 12th November at the Sheffield Hallam University and will continue through the day, AND the final 24 players for the men’s and women’s squad teams will be selected.

Past England Colleges players have been selected for their ability (technical, tactical skills), their potential (desire to develop themselves) and their character (mindset, attitude and team player).

Players will then represent the ECFA National Team in a number of domestic fixtures and the International Tour in 2018 if chosen for the final team.

It’s a major achievement for both students to be chosen for the final trial round, and we wish them the best of luck!

The Sheffield Wednesday Education Centre, in partnership with The Sheffield College, are now recruiting for 2018 courses – to find out more go to the website.
