Reigning champions South Yorkshire Under 18 Club coaches have been scouting for new talented players in football clubs and colleges across Yorkshire.

The trials resulted in 4 of Sheffield Wednesday College students studying BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Football Development, being handpicked to join the Northern team.

These included (with Secondary School):
Luis Fabio Alfonso Ferrera (Handsworth Grange)
Sam Morley (Springs)
Jacob Casterton (Birley)
Logan Chappel (Outwood Academy)

The players made their debut at the first of this season’s opening County fixture on Saturday 7th October.

The match was played against Cumbria FC Under 18s at Cantley Park.

Sheffield Wednesday College attendee Logan Chappel knocked in his first goal in the second half, resulting in a 4-2 win for the South Yorkshire Boys and putting them at 2nd team in the Northern Counties Football League.

It’s a massive achievement to be picked to play on the local team, and we look forward to updating you on their progress within the football club.

South Yorkshire will play their next match on the 11th November, against current 1st place club in the league, Northumberland.

Good luck!
